Day Trading and Swing Trading the Currency Market: Technical and Fundamental Strategies to Profit from Market Moves 2nd edition, Kathy Lien

The book was written 5 years ago, its exemples are dated and I fear that things might have changed a little bit since then. Nevertheless, I took good tips from reading the book.

As far as I have read the book, it really widened my knowledge on the currency market. I enjoyed reading this book as it gave me a better understanding than the other few books about currencies which I have read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to get into the currency market .

This is a must book for serious traders. If you want to learn how to understand the market and how to trade like a pro you must read this book. Kathy describes both fundamental and technical approaches to strengthen your understanding of the FX market. I strongly recommend.

This book is very good, I wish I have read it when it first came out, it would have saved me a lot of money and heartache.
The style of Kathy is very appealing to the mind as you read, which of course helps in understanding what you are reading and eventually just do as she suggests in the book, I started with one strategy and so far my results are 50/50 meaning I get stopped 50% and take Profit 50%, and when I analyzed why the stopped, I found because I didn't follow what she said 100% so I go back and read again.
I have read more than a 100 books on Forex, this book is by far the best and in true honesty that is the only book you need, and of course her future books as well, which I am sure will have more information and strategies.
Anyone teaching Forex, they would have the best course ever if they just structure the course according to the book.
Thank you Kathy and look forward to more insight and more strategies.

The book covers FX strategies, and very specific setups and tactics. So, great if you plan to use them as is but not so great if you already have a trading system and want to expand it to cover Forex. The references to external sources and websites makes you wonder if the book is a marketing tool (wet you appetite for a more expensive course/subscription later).

There is no doubting the author's expertise and knowlege, which are first class. However, 1 week after finishing the book, I honestly cannot recall ANY strategy or core point covered. Maybe I should practice FX first then read it again.

In summary: Do not read it if this is your 1st FX book or you have no prior experience. Maybe try other more 'beginner' guides first and come back to this one after a few months experience.

this book has some great information in it for analyzing the forex markets. MY only minor nitpick with this book is that i wish it would have went more into detail about how using the technical strategies, For example using them across multiple time frames or perhaps more examples. It is still an OVERALL great book and i highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about trading or has already been trading for a couple of years.

The trading education market seems to be a lucrative field for such people. Considering that trading is a skill where if you can make $100 a day, you can scale up to $100,000 to $100 million a day with the same technique, same exact effort.

The fact that characters like this only seem to appear at trading seminars, trading expos, trading books, and other non-real trading events should inform you where their real profit center is. George Soros just bought half a billion in Gold ETF shares, would I trust his decision... absolutely. He is a real trader, has made billions trading, and last time I checked, he doesn't offer seminars or systems.

This book, along with the other series of products, is targeted to the most naive of traders. The ones who haven't figured out that in this business, if you know how to trade, you become a billion dollar trader... if you don't know how to trade, you become a guru and sell this kind of nonsense on the seminar circuit.

I've taken classes and actively trade the Forex market. Kathy's book contains many trading strategies and a simple example to explain how each strategy works. But like anything in Forex, you need to take the time to examine her strategy and "backtest, backtest, backtest" to see if it works for you. Her philosophy is to be consistent and go for hits, not go for home runs. As the saying goes; pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. I feel limiting risk is one of the keys to being a successful trader (which Kathy continually stresses); also trading with consistency and knowing why you make the trades you make. There are so many different strategies presented that you have to choose what fits your personal investing sytle. There are not chapters devoted to in depth explanations for any particular strategy, so if you want details you will have to do additional study. The book gave me several profitable strategies that I still use. I would recommend this book as ONE of several. With trading one is always learning.

A great overview and good guideline to forex trading! Nice and quick to to read and simple to understand. some really good strategies and knowledge that is easy adaptable to my own style.
Good compendium on economic influences and models.
i enjoyed it!

It's great book! Kathy explained in detail the important of timing, include which currency pairs to trade in different time zone. This is very valuable information to traders who stay in Asia, like me. I recommend this book for active traders. TS - Singapore

I was reluctant to purchase this book because i feared this one would be as many other books i have bought before: tutorial on basics, with examples that are hard to follow. I was wrong but i am giving it a four star because the one area i believe is very important to discuss stop-loss management she was not very helpful - still better than most books i read - for that i think you need to read Agustin Silvani's book.

Aside from that this book is an excellent instruction book on swing and day trading. The book very succintly explains the preparation for the trading day and the two strategies you can follow: fundamental or technical. Although i don't use some of her strategies i do use a couple and am in the process of designing my system for the others. I think the three chapters 8,9 and 10 are worth the price of book by themselves.

Unless you are a professional financial analyst dedicating hours of research to the currency markets this book is a must read. (even if you are an analyst, you'll want to read this book). Just buy the book, and read it, then read it again. This is some complex stuff, Kathy provides a forum to understand the FOREX market and what moves it and how to trade it. Trading strategies with entry and exit rules for long and short positions. Terrific work!

Kathy's first book on daytrading the currency markets is a landmark; this updated version expands on it by adding new content for trading news plays, how to time a turn (pivot), and following flow (institutional money flow).

Kathy's a brilliant forex strategist and trader, and along with Boris, the two of them are great resources to learn from. Highly recommended. I'll be telling my 8100 traders that this is a "strong buy"; all of Kathy's training (particularly how to use correlation tables to identify strongest-paired moves) are a superb addition to any currency trader's library.
